And Noah was five hundred years old: and Noah begat Shem, Ham,and Japheth.

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the hostof them.

Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the fieldwhich the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea,hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain,and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.

And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face ofthe earth, and daughters were born unto them,

And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house intothe ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in thisgeneration.

And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all thecattle that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind topass over the earth, and the waters asswaged;

And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Befruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.

Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham,and Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood.

And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.

Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country,and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a landthat I will shew thee:

And Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all thathe had, and Lot with him, into the south.

And it came to pass in the days of Amraphel king of Shinar,Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidalking of nations;

After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in avision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thyexceeding great reward.

Now Sarai Abram's wife bare him no children: and she had anhandmaid, an Egyptian, whose name was Hagar.

And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORDappeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God;walk before me, and be thou perfect.

And the LORD appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and hesat in the tent door in the heat of the day;

And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in thegate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; andhe bowed himself with his face toward the ground;

And Abraham journeyed from thence toward the south country,and dwelled between Kadesh and Shur, and sojourned in Gerar.

And the LORD visited Sarah as he had said, and the LORD didunto Sarah as he had spoken.

And it came to pass after these things, that God did temptAbraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, hereI am.

And Sarah was an hundred and seven and twenty years old: thesewere the years of the life of Sarah.

And Abraham was old, and well stricken in age: and the LORDhad blessed Abraham in all things.

Then again Abraham took a wife, and her name was Keturah.

And there was a famine in the land, beside the first faminethat was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelechking of the Philistines unto Gerar.

And it came to pass, that when Isaac was old, and his eyeswere dim, so that he could not see, he called Esau his eldestson, and said unto him, My son: and he said unto him, Behold,here am I.

And Isaac called Jacob, and blessed him, and charged him, andsaid unto him, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters ofCanaan.

Then Jacob went on his journey, and came into the land of thepeople of the east.

And when Rachel saw that she bare Jacob no children, Rachelenvied her sister; and said unto Jacob, Give me children, orelse I die.

And he heard the words of Laban's sons, saying, Jacob hathtaken away all that was our father's; and of that which wasour father's hath he gotten all this glory.

And Jacob went on his way, and the angels of God met him.

And Jacob lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, Esaucame, and with him four hundred men. And he divided thechildren unto Leah, and unto Rachel, and unto the twohandmaids.

And Dinah the daughter of Leah, which she bare unto Jacob,went out to see the daughters of the land.

And God said unto Jacob, Arise, go up to Bethel, and dwellthere: and make there an altar unto God, that appeared untothee when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother.

Now these are the generations of Esau, who is Edom.

And Jacob dwelt in the land wherein his father was a stranger,in the land of Canaan.

And it came to pass at that time, that Judah went down fromhis brethren, and turned in to a certain Adullamite, whosename was Hirah.

And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officerof Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him ofthe hands of the Ishmeelites, which had brought him downthither.

And it came to pass after these things, that the butler of theking of Egypt and his baker had offended their lord the kingof Egypt.

And it came to pass at the end of two full years, that Pharaohdreamed: and, behold, he stood by the river.

Now when Jacob saw that there was corn in Egypt, Jacob saidunto his sons, Why do ye look one upon another?

And the famine was sore in the land.

And he commanded the steward of his house, saying, Fill themen's sacks with food, as much as they can carry, and putevery man's money in his sack's mouth.

Then Joseph could not refrain himself before all them thatstood by him; and he cried, Cause every man to go out from me.And there stood no man with him, while Joseph made himselfknown unto his brethren.

And Israel took his journey with all that he had, and came toBeersheba, and offered sacrifices unto the God of his fatherIsaac.

Then Joseph came and told Pharaoh, and said, My father and mybrethren, and their flocks, and their herds, and all that theyhave, are come out of the land of Canaan; and, behold, theyare in the land of Goshen.

And it came to pass after these things, that one told Joseph,Behold, thy father is sick: and he took with him his two sons,Manasseh and Ephraim.

And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselvestogether, that I may tell you that which shall befall you inthe last days.

And Joseph fell upon his father's face, and wept upon him, andkissed him.
